The boxier X1 is more affordable, more functional, and just as entertaining to drive as both of these X2 versions.

On the other hand, the X1 can not be obtained with the X2 M35i’s 302-hp turbocharged lookup engine, which makes this tiny SUV a more concentrated performance machine.

It is a joy to pitch to fast corners and rewards the driver with its predictable character.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The X2 does not boast the maximum fuel-economy ratings in its own section, but it is still a lot effective; front-drive models bring up to 32 mpg on the street all-wheel-drive X2s are rated for up to 31 mpg.

In our testing, even however, the X2 was shown to be among the very active crossovers, using a 36-mpg effect within our 200-mile street fuel-economy route. We managed just 29 mpg from the all-wheel-drive X1 along with the XC40 T5.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
