2020 BMW X2 Review
Consider this 2020 X2 as a stylish option to this subcompact BMW X1 SUV, however, one which includes a couple of compromises.
Its chassis is lively, and its motors are excited, but its sportier sheet metal impinges on freight space, and its own narrow back window generates a couple of significant blind spots.
The fire-breathing M35i version is the thing that sets the X2 aside from the workaday X1. Also, it supplied blistering acceleration throughout our testing.

What is New BMW X2 for 2020?
The X2 started as a 2019 version, and this being just its sophomore year, BMW has not altered much for 2020.
Last year’s standard 6.5-inch infotainment screen was ditched in favor of this previously optional 8.8-inch unit; navigation is now standard across the X2 lineup. Otherwise, the X2 conveys basically unchanged.

On the other hand, the X1 can not be obtained with the X2 M35i’s 302-hp turbocharged lookup engine, which makes this tiny SUV a more concentrated performance machine.
Thus, if you are planning to do this, then we advise you to go all of the ways and purchase the M35i.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
BMW calls this version the sDrive28i; the xDrive28 is your discretionary all-wheel-drive edition.
The motor is a love: keen to rev, silky-smooth, and lots gutsy. In our test track, the all-wheel-drive X2 xDrive28i snapped off a great 6.4-second zero-to-60-mph jog; that is 0.1 second supporting the X1 xDrive28i along with the Volvo XC40 T5.
Quicker yet is that the Mercedes-Benz GLA250, that handled a 5.8-second moment.
The high-performance M35i version’s engine was trained to pump out 302 horsepower and blast it to 60 miles in only 4.6 minutes in our test track.
Much like all the X1, the X2 has a brutal ride–particularly with all the sport suspension. Driving over rough stretches of street, occupants will feel each imperfection that this subcompact crossover adventures.
It is a joy to pitch to fast corners and rewards the driver with its predictable character.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The X2 does not boast the maximum fuel-economy ratings in its own section, but it is still a lot effective; front-drive models bring up to 32 mpg on the street all-wheel-drive X2s are rated for up to 31 mpg.
In our testing, even however, the X2 was shown to be among the very active crossovers, using a 36-mpg effect within our 200-mile street fuel-economy route. We managed just 29 mpg from the all-wheel-drive X1 along with the XC40 T5.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Though the X2’s interior layout is not as notable as its exterior, the cottage is well-dressed and well-designed. Rear-seat headroom is tight, but passenger comfort ought to be acceptable for many people.
BMW delivers several upholstery-color choices –in both artificial and real leathers–along with five distinct trims.
Due to its shapelier outside, the X2 is not as functional as the squared-off X1. In our testing, we match five of our carry suitcases behind the back seat and 15 incomplete with all the back seats folded, versus seven and 19 for the X1.
However, the X2 is by its stylishly shaped competitions and almost matched the GLA250 within this test.
Infotainment and Connectivity
An 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment program with navigation is standard and operates BMW’s instinctive and appealing iDrive computer software interface, which may also be controlled with a center-console-mounted rotary knob.
Apple CarPlay capacity is regular, but Android automobile capacity isn’t offered. A seven-speaker sound system will probably be good enough for casual listeners.
However, a Harman/Kardon premium audio system could be inserted and should appeal to audiophiles.
Security and Driver-Assistance Characteristics
The first pair of driver-assistance attributes are standard–such as automated emergency braking–but more sophisticated features cost extra.
Conventional automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Conventional lane-departure warning.
Guarantee and Maintenance Coverage
In regards to warranty coverage, the X2’s policies are rigorously class-average.
BMW does provide three full years of free scheduled care –an incredible perk of possession that Mercedes does not offer.
Drivers who are piling on the miles might be served with the Lexus NX, the Lincoln MKC, or even the Cadillac XT4, all of which provide two additional years and extra kilometers of powertrain protection.
- The limited warranty covers 4 Decades or 50,000 miles
