2021 BMW 2-Series Review
The 230i model is powered with a 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, but updating to the M240i swaps at a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that makes a stout 335 horsepower.
If you’re looking for more practicality, you may discover that among the car’s four-door rivals–like the Audi A3, the Mercedes-Benz A-class, or BMW’s own 2-series Gran Coupe–fits the bill. However, the 2-series coupe and convertible are selecting those who value driving verve over day-to-day usefulness.
For 2021, BMW 2-Series has made only minimal changes to the 2-series lineup. SiriusXM satellite radio has become standard and features real-time traffic upgrades.
Apple CarPlay compatibility is also provided at no cost, and the discretionary in-dash navigation method is $800 less costly than it was in the past year’s version.
You can no longer order the 2-series with the Luxury Line bundle or the Track Handling bundle. We anticipate a new creation to launch shortly, likely for its 2022 model year. Leaked photos demonstrate it will get a comprehensive redesign, but we hope it’ll retain its regular rear-wheel-drive setup.

2021 BMW 2-Series Engine, Transmission, and Performance Review
You can not go wrong with both of the engines in the 2-series. BMW 2-Series gets bonus points for offering a manual transmission with both engines, though you can spec a well-coordinated eight-speed automated transmission.
The 2-series handle itself with aplomb, thanks in part to its fast, accurate steering responses and strong, capable chassis.
The uneven pavement journey is generally great, and passengers are isolated from many lumps by the firmly controlled suspension.
However, over repeated expansion joints, the 2-series stones passengers as if they were on a penny-pony ride.
An adaptive suspension with adjustable dampers is regular in the M240i, and that, and grippy summer tires, gives this automobile seriously responsive handling.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
You could think that the 2-series would not be very fuel-efficient, given how powerful and lively its engines are; however, it’s actually quite frugal for this section.
The all-wheel-drive 230i we tested on our 200-mile highway testing route outperformed its EPA rating, highlighting 35 mpg.
This makes it among the most efficient cars in its class and a relatively thrifty street cruiser for a high-performance coupe.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The cottage is nicely designed, with comfortable front buckets with adequate room for front-seat passengers. However, the rear legroom is so cramped that adults will have a hard time riding back for long.
Straightforward indicators and a straightforward tool panel talk to the car’s sporty purposes, but many substances are uninspired for a vehicle in this price range.
The 2-series includes a relatively large trunk for a compact sedan, but its small back-seat area does not leave much space for additional cargo.
